Born in 1920 in Normandy, Gaston Lenôtre quickly showed a true passion for pâtisserie.
In 1947, he opened his first store in Normandy. In 1957 along with his wife Colette, he bought a store in Paris at 44 rue d’Auteuil. It was an immediate success! His exceptionally high productivity was the talent that led him to open a catering department in 1964, and soon he was the artist behind the most lavish celebrations.
In 1971, l’Ecole Lenôtre opened up in Plaisir, close to Paris in les Yvelines. Professionals from the world over flocked to learn the secrets of this famous pastrychef.
The first international venture was in Berlin in 1975, with Japan, the middle East, Korea, Las Vegas, Bangkok to follow. Peking will soon be added to this list.
With Le Pré Catelan in 1976, le Pavillon Elysée Lenôtre in 1985, le Panoramique du Stade de France in 1998 three more thoroughbred venues were successfully added to the stable of Lenôtre-run establishments. |
